0. Global Beliefs and Values: Introduction

Version 1.13 December 2019                                      Previous Version

These pages present what we think are reasonable global beliefs:

●   Beliefs that can be held by anyone in the world, regardless of their national, ethnic or religious background; and

●   Beliefs that cover all the important topics, in philosophy, science, history, religion, culture, art and media, personal development and politics.

Our core choices based on these beliefs reflect global values.

In these pages, we discuss the biggest questions in life:

●     What should our values be?  What should I do now?

●     What beliefs can we base our values on?

●     What is the meaning or purpose of life?

We face a raft of critical issues, on a global, national and personal level.  more

Most of us have more questions than answers.  more

Answering these big questions provides a way – a Reasonable Global Way – to address the critical global, national and personal issues we face.

On a more spiritual level, this Reasonable Global Way helps us find Truth, meaning and purpose, and helps us discover our roles in Life, Love and Hope.

Why work out what we believe?  See the next page: click Next or Quick Tour.

A Reasonable Global Way?

How is it different?

It is comprehensive, not narrow:

●  We accept mystery, wonder & beauty.

●  We cover economics and politics too.

It is open & adaptable, not fixed:

●  It has no dogma.  It’s all debatable.

●  We change our beliefs as we learn.

●  We can justify the values we support .

It is compassionate, not selfish:

●  Morals aren’t relative

●  Some acts are bad.

●  We’re all responsible for our choices.

It is reasonable (not unrealistic):

●  We’re rational, using common sense.

●  But we recognise the limits of reason.

●  We accept self-interest and altruism;

●  We accept emotions, feelings & faith.

We look at evidence others ignore:

●  We learn from science and history.

●  But science doesn’t solve everything.

●  We learn from religion and prophets.

●  We also learn from everyone else.

We are positive, not despairing:

● We aren’t so sceptical that we lose it.

● We believe in real things & values.

● We value truth, life, love, hope.

We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of Country, throughout all colonised lands, and their connections to land, waters and community. We pay respect by giving voice to truth, values and social justice, acknowledging our shared history, and valuing the cultures of first nations peoples.
