9.1.2 Quintessential Corrigible ProfessionsVersion 1.10, March 2013 Previous Version Can we devise summaries with a personal structure, working from our raw experiences and consciousness to external reality, and hence to social action, integrating insights from all areas of knowledge – philosophy, science, history, religion, culture, personal practice and politics?
This page introduces another alternative way of summarising these ‘global beliefs and values’. We have called these: The Quintessential, Corrigible Professions of a Reasonable Global Way: The Tenets of Global Beliefs. · quintessential (the most essential, the best, and, incidentally, 5 major points) · corrigible (they may need correction based on more reason, evidence or insight) · professions (statements we can make, what we profess) · reasonable (based on reason, evidence and insight, in open debate) · way (path, philosophy of life, world view, way of life) · tenets (beliefs we can hold, even if we hold these tentatively as working hypotheses) · global (covering life’s most fundamental issues, and which can be held by everyone) · beliefs (tentative working hypotheses as guides to choices and actions we have to make) As we read these “professions” we need to keep in mind: Our choices reflect the values that we hold. Our values guide our choices. For a brief summary (less than 500 words) click here. For additional explanations click here. For on old longer version click here.
